medium profileToday we welcome Jess Anastasi to Romancing the Book as Entangled Publishing takes over the blog for the week.  Before we get to Jess’s guest post, let’s learn a little more about her.

Jess has been making up stories ever since she can remember. Though her messy handwriting made it hard for anyone else to read them, she wasn’t deterred and now she gets to make up stories for a living. She loves loud music, a good book on a rainy day, and probably spends too much time watching too many TV shows.

Julie MulhernWelcome to our 8th Anniversary Celebration.  This week Entangled Publishing is taking over Romancing the Book, and one of today’s guests is Julie Mulhern.

Julie Mulhern is the USA Today bestselling author of The Country Club Murders and the Haunting Series.

She is a Kansas City native who grew up on a steady diet of Agatha Christie. She spends her spare time whipping up gourmet meals for her family, working out at the gym and finding new ways to keep her house spotlessly clean–and she’s got an active imagination.

Guest: Judy Duarte

JUDY DUARTE always knew there was a book inside her, but since English was her least favorite subject in school, she never considered herself a writer. An avid reader who enjoys a happy ending, Judy couldn’t shake the dream of creating a book of her own. That dream became a reality in 2002, when Silhouette released her first Special Edition. Her stories have touched the hearts of readers around the world, landing her a prestigious Reader’s Choice Award.

Where the magic happens…

Every writer has a different process, but for me one of the most important parts of creating a story is where I do it. I have a room in my house that is solely mine. I fill it with all the things that inspire me. It has hundreds of books, maps, guides to far flung places where I set my romances. But it’s very much a working room.

I start writing at 9.00 am and work on through to 5.00pm.

another author picWhy I write in the early morning hours

Okay, I don’t exactly write in the early morning hours. After all, I am intimately acquainted with getting up at o-dark-thirty. When I was in the military, a 6 a.m. start meant a wake-up call at 4 a.m. to get my hair braided, my weapon drawn, and my vehicle properly prepped. All so I could make the 5:30 a.m. formation. And then there was my time as a Bed & Breakfast owner.

Writing About Sport When You Don’t Actually Like It?  No Problem. Bring It On.

Thanks for inviting me along to bring my new book from Totally Bound, Scoring With Sir, with me. It’s really exciting to be out in public (as am I!)

I thought I’d make a bold confession here. Scoring With Sir is a book with a sports star hero about a female sports super fan. All good. The only problem being…um…I don’t watch sport.

Guest: Cheryl St. John

We asked Cheryl who she envisioned as the main characters of her newest release, Want Ad Wedding.  Before we get to her choices, let’s learn a little more about the book.

When Daniel Gardner convinced the residents of his Kansas boomtown to advertise for mail-order brides, he never expected the woman he once loved to respond. But Leah Swann steps off the bride train…pregnant and widowed and in need of a husband. Drawn to protect his fragile childhood friend, Daniel proposes a marriage of convenience.

I’m going to share one of my favorite nonalcoholic mixed drinks with you.

The Liliko’i Splash at Disney’s Aulani resort in Oahu is great, and even though I haven’t made it at home (yet) I have some drink making experience and the recipe I’m giving you is based on how I plan to make it when I scrounge up passion fruit syrup somewhere here in Oregon. ☺

To start, you need passion fruit syrup, club soda, mint and lime.
