MoreThanWords Logo

Each year, the Harlequin More Than Words award is given to three women who have worked hard to change people’s lives for the better. Inspired by their accomplishments, Harlequin donates $15,000 to each winner’s charity of choice and then pairs each winner with a bestselling Harlequin author who turns her story into a novella that’s released to the public as a free e-book.

Nominations for the 2014 awards have just opened and will be open until August 9th. To nominate someone you know who is making a difference in the world, or to nominate yourself, you need to submit a few sentences on the nominee, the charity she’s involved in, what inspires her and how she’s inspiring others. The nomination form is available here:

THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE Hurricane Sandy Jersey Shore Campaign

Best-selling author Caridad Piñeiro is helping to rebuild the shore by donating proceeds of her latest romantic suspense release, THE PRINCE’S GAMBLE, from now until March 1, 2013. Caridad’s share of the proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief fund.

Here’s a note from Caridad about her Campaign:

When Hurricane Sandy came roaring onto the Jersey Shore, it left a path of destruction in her wake. I was blessed that my home and my daughter’s shop were unaffected by the storm, although our towns and those nearby suffered damage. I’ve shared some images of that damage on my Facebook fan page.

This past week we had two promotions fall through because of Superstorm Sandy.  Even though I’m in Washington State, I’ve been touched (albeit very indirectly) from the storm.  So for the rest of the month of November, I will be donating 25% of all book sales to the Red Cross Relief Fund.  If you’d like to donate directly, please visit to learn more.

Now on to the book sale… I have hundred (and I’m not kidding) of books that I inherited, but honestly don’t have the room for.  Are you a fan of Nora Roberts, Robyn Carr, Linda Lael Miller, Debbie Macomber, Catherine Coulter, Fern Michaels, Sheryl Woods, Susan Wiggs, Phyllis Whitney or inspirational romances?  Or are you looking for some new authors?  Then check out all the books we have for sale at

Hopefully all the details you’ll need can be found on that page.  If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask by emailing Jen at

Note from Ilie: The stories of the women who populate The Salt God’s Daughter were inspired by the confluence of real life and a Celtic myth, which I learned from a folksong my mother played on the guitar, The Great Silkie of Sule Skerry. While the myth is the map, its many roads reflect the experiences of my grandmothers, of my mother, of my friends, and of seventeen young girls I never knew but whose histories found me. My wish was to illuminate the female experience through generations–not only those times that are shrouded in shadows, but also those that are lovely and beautiful, and made indelible with light. At its heart this is a story about true love, sometimes found between mothers and daughters, in the secrets of sisters, and in the arms of the first person with whom you shared your heart. When all is said and done, this novel belongs to resolute sisters Ruthie and Dolly. They are my champions. Their journey of discovery and survival is the heart of this story.

Set in Long Beach, California, beginning in the 1970s, The Salt God’s Daughter follows three generations of extraordinary women who share something unique—something magical and untamed that makes them unmistakably different from others. Theirs is a world teeming with ancestral stories, exotic folklore, inherited memory, and meteoric myths.

TEN BEACH ROAD is hitting the shelves anew this month as part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Penguin Group’s READ PINK® program.

The READ PINK® program was created by my publisher, Penguin Group (USA) to promote public awareness of breast cancer and breast cancer research and to support and recognize the contributions of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®(BCRF) by connecting the cause to books written by, for and about women.

For the past two years, Penguin’s Read Pink donation has sponsored 500 hours of research time and I’m incredibly proud and honored to have my book on the shelves with the Read Pink Seal on the cover and information about BCRF in the back of the book.

This is the 5th year for author Brenda Novak’s Online Auction for Diabetes Research. Authors and publishers and many other people and companies have donated items to be auctioned off for this charity.

Readers and authors can bid on lunch with a favorite author, an ARC (Advanced Reading Copy) of an anticipated release or an agent evaluation of your book.

Last year the auction raised over $250,000. Hopes are to break the $300,000 mark this year. Please join me in visiting the auction and helping support this charity.

Sometimes we need to realize everything we have been blessed with… our family, friends, and our health. Unfortunately, others aren’t as lucky. There are many chronically and terminally ill children out there who must undergo years of hospitalization, daily medications, and the absence of a “normal” childhood. Together we can help make a small difference in their life. We can help them forget about their problems for 5 days while these kids and their families get a trip to Disney World!

We can help make that possible with a small donation. I challenge you to match my contribution ($100), but I would be grateful for any amount you can give. And I know the children going this year and in the future would greatly appreciate it more.

Thank you,
