Series: Secrets of a Rock Star (# 2)
Release Date: August 2, 2016
Gwen Hamilton wants to succeed at acting without using her family name: she wants to be judged on her own terms. But when an exercise in Method Acting leads her accidentally into the arms of Mal Kenneally, the rock star with a reputation for unusual sexual appetites, Gwen thinks maybe she’s found the ultimate test of her acting abilities. Or maybe she’s finally met the man who can see the real Gwen underneath the act.
Mal Kenneally has done his best to leave his aristocratic British family behind. The Rough, the rock band he started with his childhood friend Axel, is his family now. But will he be forced to choose between the brotherhood of the band and his growing obsession with Gwen Hamilton?
Mal and Gwen push each other’s limits, each convinced that one day they’ll go too far. But the farther they go, the more they discover that two can delve far deeper than one.
Doing a rock star book, I knew I needed a playlist that I could rock out to. Some swoopy orchestral soundtrack was not going to cut it for WILD LICKS. Since this book is about the guitarist for the band called The Rough I knew I wanted a lot of electric guitar. Mal is the tall, dark, and mysterious type, so I looked for songs that reflected both the music that influenced him as a musician while he was growing up and that just fit his broody dom aesthetic.
Also, Mal rocks hard, and you can take that any way you want—musically, physically, in bed… and you’ll be right! You might even find that some of the lyrics and themes in these songs parallel the growth of the love relationship in the book. (And some of them are just great songs.)
I didn’t stick to any one genre because no single genre could contain such a complex hero with such discerning tastes! So there’s a little hard rock, some goth, a touch of industrial, and then to represent our heroine, Gwen Hamilton, just a wee bit of sweetness to temper it. (I swear I wasn’t thinking about Gwen Stefani when I named my heroine but she fits!)
