It’s funny. There was once a time when I could only write in a quiet room. No sounds, no one around, just my laptop and me. And then I had kids. And it wasn’t so much that I needed a distraction from my kids so I could write—I almost never write around my kids. It was more that I couldn’t turn off my brain. I would think about all the things I should be doing instead of writing—folding clothes, house chores, researching the latest/greatest thing I should be doing as a mom.
Finally, I realized two very important things:
- Parenting isn’t about being perfect. It’s okay. Everything is okay.
- I needed a playlist for every book so I could turn my brain off and focus on the story.
I’ve been writing to music ever since!
For my latest release, NO FALLING ALLOWED, I focused on songs that oozed romance, emotion, and small-town life for Noah, my hero. But for city Grace, I wanted upbeat songs that felt both feminine and strong. So here’s my playlist. Can you guess which song was used for which character?
