Jen: It’s day three of our Entangled Takeover and today we welcome Frnaces Fowlkes to Romancing the Book. Frances, will you share a short bio with us?
Frances: Frances Fowlkes lives in South Carolina with her high school sweetheart, three red-headed sons, and a spoiled standard poodle. When not writing about ardent heroes or strong-willed heroines, she enjoys spending time with her family, fangirling, and planning her next vacation.
Jen: Tell us a little about your newest release.
Frances: My newest release is To Win a Viscount, the second book in my Daughters of Amhurst series. I love writing about women with unusual interests and occupations and it just happened my heroine had a passion for horses. I thought it’d be fun to try my hand at a female jockey. I paired her with a strong-willed ginger-haired groom, because I have three handsome red-headed sons of my own and thought they deserved a hero with similar coloring.
Jen: What was your most romantic date?
Frances: On our ten year wedding anniversary, my husband took me to Costa Rica. We booked a hotel room overlooking an active volcano. Watching glowing boulders of lava tumble down the side of the volcano while cuddling together under a blanket on our balcony was pretty darn awesome.
Jen: Favorite flavor of ice cream?
Frances: Chocolate chip cookie dough. Hands down.
Jen: Favorite sport to watch?
Frances: Soccer. Extra Points if it’s the men’s World Cup.
Jen: Favorite gift received from a fan?
Frances: Portrait sketches of my characters. I love seeing my characters through their renderings.
Jen: How neat is your work environment?
Frances: Exceptionally neat and darn near sterile. I don’t collect clutter and actually get stressed if I have too much on my desk. I keep things minimal and very, very clean.
Jen: What was the last movie you saw in the theater?
Frances: Star Trek Beyond. I’m a total Trekkie fan girl. LOVED it. In fact, I’ll probably go see it again. And soon.
Jen: What TV family would you want to be a part of?
Frances: The Goldbergs. They crack me up.
Jen: Describe your writing style in one word.
Jen: Do you have a mentor?
Frances: I really look up to my editor at Entangled, Robin Haseltine. I’ve learned so much from her. My writing would not be as half as good without her encouragement and support.
Jen: Camping or hotel?
Frances: HOTEL. I love a good campfire, but I hate bugs more.
Jen: iPhone or android?
Frances: I’ve had both, but I prefer the iPhone.
Jen: What’s next for you?
Frances: Next up is book 3 in the series, which I’m currently working on now. It involves a super smart heroine who learns to embrace her quirks with a little help from her best friend’s older brother. I’m having a lot of fun with the characters and can’t wait for everyone to meet them.
Thanks for having me!
