Review: I find that in-ear buds tend to be uncomfortable and I needed a pair of headphones to use at work. I also wanted a wired pair of headphones, which seem to be harder to find, so that I can plug into my computer and my iPod (which doesn’t have a bluetooth option). So, when the request to review Edifier M710 On-Ear Headphones with Mic and Volume Control came across my inbox, I had to give it a try.
The first thing I noticed was the length of the cord. It’s long enough that I can plug into my tower (at work), laptop (at home) or my iPod and not feel like I’m on a leash. The cord also has a built in mic and volume control. The volume control is super handy and its right there near your head and you don’t have to go reaching for your device to adjust the volume. I’ll admit, I haven’t used the mic. I just don’t have the need since I’m not using the headphone for phone calls. But it is an interesting feature that could come in handy if you were so inclined to use it.
The headphones themselves are very lightweight. I was amazed how light they were when I first picked them up. And when they’re on, they aren’t heavy and bulky. The ear pads actually rotate allowing for a more comfortable fit and easier storage. And as with most over the ear headphones, the top strap is adjustable as well. The ear pads are also very well padded which adds to the comfort as well and also helps (although not eliminate) noise reduction. I can easily wear these for hours, even with my glasses on, and not get uncomfortable.
As for sound quality, I have no complaints. I’m not an expert in sound engineering or quality, so I can’t nitpick on the sound. But I was pleasantly surprised at the sound that came from the headphones. Base was more pronounced than with my old earbuds and the treble was balanced. I didn’t experience any feedback or any sort of disruptions in the sound.
All in all, I’d be happy to recommend the Edifier M710 On-Ear Headphones with Mic and Volume Control. I’ve found them to be quite comfortable, stylish and have no complaints on the sound quality. If you’re in the market for a pair of wired on-ear headphones, try this pair.
