Jen: Today we welcome Molly Ann Wishlade to Romancing the Book. Molly Ann, will you share a short bio with us?
Molly Ann: Molly Ann Wishlade has always been an avid reader and writer of stories. She regularly indulges her love of romance and passion by getting lost in the delicious worlds created by romantic novelists. When not reading, she’s busy with her current WIP, usually her next highly erotic tale about sexy and saucy cowboys and their lady loves – and sometimes their gorgeous male lovers too.
Jen: Please tell us about your newest release and where the idea came from.
Molly Ann: I love writing about cowboys, whether contemporary or historical, and this story idea came about when I was researching about the rodeo. I read a few stories about men whose lives had been changed forever when they’d sustained serious injuries, and I wanted to write one about a rodeo rider who had to surrender the life on the rodeo circuit that he loved, but who still found happiness and fulfilment.
Jen: Are you a plotter or pantser?
Molly Ann: I’ve always been a bit of both to be honest but as I’ve gained experience, I’ve found that plotting helps me to avoid writer’s block. I try to start out with an outline of my story but I’ve come to accept now that it often changes along the way, especially when the characters start making their own decisions.
Jen: Describe your writing in 3 words.
Molly Ann: Hot. Sensual. Romantic.
Jen: Do you have a writing routine?
Molly Ann: I write whenever and wherever because time is so precious, so I tend to just tell myself to stop procrastinating and get on with it. It works for me! (Most of the time.)
Jen: What’s been the highlight of your career to this point?
Molly Ann: Every acceptance is a triumph and you’re only as good as your last book, so it’s a continuous journey. Everything I learn as an author is a triumph because learning – whether from editors, fellow authors, readers or reviewers – improves your writing and I want to be good at the thing I love doing.
Jen: What’s next for you?
Molly Ann: I have a few ideas I’m working through and I have a paranormal story I wrote a few years ago that I want to revise.
