Guest: Judy Duarte

JUDY DUARTE always knew there was a book inside her, but since English was her least favorite subject in school, she never considered herself a writer. An avid reader who enjoys a happy ending, Judy couldn’t shake the dream of creating a book of her own. That dream became a reality in 2002, when Silhouette released her first Special Edition. Her stories have touched the hearts of readers around the world, landing her a prestigious Reader’s Choice Award. In 2009, she won the Maggie and was a finalist in the Inspirational category of the Rita® with MULBERRY PARK. And in 2010, ENTERTAINING ANGELS finaled in the Rita®, won the Maggie, and placed second in the Inspirational Readers Choice.

Today Judy is sharing with us her How-to Tips for Aspiring Writers. These are tips for those looking to get their work published/break into the industry.

  1. Join a writer’s group like Romance Writers of America
  2. Learn the craft, take classes, attend conferences
  3. Find a critique partner or two you can trust
  4. Write every day.  (If you write 1 page each day, you’ll have written a book in a year.)
  5. Expect to take 2 steps forward and 1 step back
  6. Don’t give up

And now let’s learn about her newest release.

Graham has always thought of Sasha as his “little sister.” Sasha has always considered the rugged rancher out of her league. Now that Sasha is all grown up, there is nothing keeping them apart — Except she has a daughter. And an ex-husband. And a very noticeable baby bump.

The always proper Graham suddenly finds himself thinking very sexy thoughts about the sweet single mom. Perhaps Fortune is finally smiling on Graham—in the form of the true love this rich, unencumbered cowboy has always longed for!
