Review: I drink water all day long and go through a lot of ice cubes to try to keep the water cold. I was curious about the whiskey stones when the review request came through my email.
The stones arrived in a small padded envelope. Each stone was individually wrapped within the plastic storage box. Per the directions, before doing anything else, I washed the stones and case. Once they were dry, the went into the freezer. It took a couple hours before the stones were chilled enough to use.
I started with a glass of tap water and the stones. It didn’t work quite as well as I’d hoped. So, after finishing my water, I washed the stones and started again. Once they were chilled, I tried some cold water and a smaller cup. This worked better as it kept the already cold water cold. And there was less liquid in the cup.
So here’s my dilemma. In a small glass of liquid, the stones are great. But in a large glass, they sink to the bottom and only chill the liquid at the bottom that are in close contact to the stones. The stones are solid, so they aren’t moving around the cup when drinking or trying to stir the liquid.
In the end, they’re pretty and in a small shot of something, they’re great. But if you want to chill more liquid, you’re either going to need more stones or be disappointed.
