Review: When I saw this car ionizer, I immediately thought of Mr. Stinky (one of my affectionate pet names for my dog). Since I take my dog everywhere, my car often smells like he does. Which means my car smells like dog.

When I received the ionizer, I was pretty hesitant. It’s very light-weight and doesn’t really feel like there’s anything to it. Of course, the tech behind ionizers is very basic – a couple of wires to charge the particles in the air – but I think we’re so used to thinking that something has to have weight to it in order for it to work.

I am actually amazed that my car has not smelled like dog since I installed the ionizer. I was worried that I had become inured to the smell and therefore, couldn’t tell that my car did still smell like dog, so I asked a couple of riders. I was surprised that one, who had been in my car and smelled the dog smell, said it didn’t smell like it had previously. The other admitted there was a background smell of dog but he didn’t really notice it until I asked.

I hate to say that this is definitively ridding my car of dog smell without extensive further testing, but it appears to work as promised. The only negative I have is that when I want to charge my phone, I have to unplug the ionizer. It would be great if there was an ionizer with a built-in USB port.
