NY Times Bestselling Author Carly Phillips turns up the heat in her newest sexy contemporary romance series, and introduces you to the Dare family… siblings shaped by a father’s secrets and betrayal.
Decklan Dare knows about the unexpected loss of loved ones and for this reason, he values control in all areas of his life. Amanda Collins enjoys the freedom she finds in casual encounters without the emotional connection a relationship brings. They meet and their physical attraction is mutual but both experience feelings that could run deeper – if they drop their guard and let each other in. Decklan is first to trust, but when he discovers the secret Amanda’s been hiding, will he forgive? Or will he rebuild every wall before she has a chance to explain?
Review: I am a huge fan of Carly Phillips but this new series, Dare to Love, presses the boundaries and is out of my comfort zone. The series is edgy but Dare to Submit is the edgiest one yet and my least favorite so far. There is BDSM and LGBT with m/m and it didn’t hold my interest especially whenever the club was front and center.
Decklan and Amanda had immediate chemistry once they officially met and although neither one was into relationships they jumped in with both feet. They had been attracted to each other months before without the other ever realizing it. They both had baggage but little by little opened up to each other. Of course, the revelation of a big secret kept them apart and almost broke them up for good.
It was nice to have some of the Dares we’ve met in previous books return in some small part to this story. There were a lot of twists and turns to the story some that were expected and others not so much. There were family and friends, lots of sex some of which was pretty erotic, secrets, anger, tears, hurt, pain, love and a happily ever after in the offing although the book did end a little too abruptly for me. There was some closure and I can’t wait to meet up with the Dare family once again as each one gets their own story. Next up for me is book five in the series, Dare to Touch.
I do hope that after this series is put to bed that the author will return to her previous style of writing and not be as big into steamy and erotic scenes.
Favorite Quote: …Chemistry. They’d had that in spades. But there was something more to her. A strength combined with a vulnerability he didn’t see often. They’d clicked in bed and out. He’d had fun with her, a word he never associated with sex. And most important, the thing that unnerved him the most, she tempted him to want her touch. …
