For over a hundred years, vampire warrior Elsa Ware has worked alone, roaming the night to protect her race. When word of an underground fight ring using captive supernaturals reaches her clan, she is sent deep into a treacherous world where she will need all her skills to survive. But that’s all part of her job. What she doesn’t expect to find is an intense attraction to the sexy Russian werewolf who is the most feared fighter of them all.

Sevastyan Rykov is undefeated in the bloody game he is forced to play, but when he is bitten by a demon in his last fight, it seems like a death sentence. Until the evil leader of the fight ring throws a beautiful vampire into his cell as the demon’s poison turns him into a crazed predator. He can’t control the bloodlust that rages inside him, but Elsa turns the need for violence into another kind of need altogether, and a connection is made…one that will either overcome the evil around them, or destroy them both.

Review:  Elsa Ware’s mission was supposed to be fairly simple. Her goal was to find out more about an underground fighting ring and report back to her boss. For an experienced vampire like Elsa, it should have been a piece of cake.

Author Alyssa Stevens delivers a paranormal thriller in Dangerous Match. Elsa is pitted against a dangerous vampire with a bent for magic in this supernatural tale. I wasn’t quite sure how the story would develop until the author introduced Rykov, a wolf shifter. At that point, what started as an interesting story got some extra ingredients.

With Rykov and Elsa fighting to survive, it is only a matter of time before the clock runs out. The author skillfully provides plenty of suspense along the way. The paranormal elements are well integrated and developed well into the storyline. Add in an uber evil demon and the action really starts to heat up.

It’s a quick read, but what it lacks in depth is more than made up by the heat factor in the form of some serious chemistry between Elsa and Rykov. If you are wanting a quick escape featuring some paranormal activity, then Dangerous Match is definitely a good choice.
