They’re tight
They’re on target
They’re as alpha as men can get.

The Dallas SWAT team is hiding one helluva secret . . . they’re a pack of wolf shifters.

The team of elite sharpshooters is ultra-secretive—and also the darlings of Dallas. This doesn’t sit well with investigative journalist Mackenzie Stone. They must be hiding something . . . and she’s determined to find out what.

Keeping Mac at a distance proves impossible for SWAT team commander Gage Dixon. She’s smart, sexy, and makes him feel alive for the first time in years. But she’s getting dangerously close to the truth—and perilously close to his heart…

Review: This book gives lovers of Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense all they can handle. Love hot men in uniform? Alpha Shifters? It’s in there.

Mac can not believe the Dallas SWAT team is as perfect as their image suggest. There has to be a crack in that armor somewhere and as an investigative reporter she has every intention of finding out all the secrets behind these nearly superhuman men and how they maintain their success record. But, Mac quickly gets in over her head when instead of trying to avoid her, the leader of the team, Gage Dixon, actually invites her in to do an article about the team.

No matter how good Mac is at her job, no matter how hard she tries to stay in control of the story and in charge of Gage Dixon, it seems Gage  is the one really in control.

When the team is forced to take down an armed robber and hostage taker, the man’s well connected family decides to exact revenge. When Mac gets caught in the crossfire, all of the team’s dark secrets could be revealed.

I confess that when I first saw this book and looked at the cover, I didn’t realize it was a paranormal book. I thought it was strictly an action style romantic suspense novel centered around a Dallas SWAT team. I love those types of books, but when I saw it was paranormal and the SWAT team was made of of shifters, I didn’t  know how all that would play out. I was worried it would be cheesy with over the top Alpha characters that were more of a parody of the real life SWAT team. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the book started off with an action packed scene where Mac was able to see how the team handled a real life or death situation.

The truth is the shifter part of the story actually takes a back seat to the everyday drama a SWAT team would have to deal with. In fact, there were times I completely forgot they were shifters. Of course, Mac notices Gage is HUGE and so are the other guys on the team and they appear to have some rather peculiar abilities such as being able to see in a pitch dark building without night goggles.

While Mac originally intended to try and unearth some kind of scandal within the unit, she instead finds herself caught up in Gage and the situation he is in. But what will Mac do when the inevitable takes place and Gabe’s true nature reveals itself?

I ended up really liking this book. The pace can be frustrating a little since I was ready for the couple to get busy and I was also on edge wondering when Mac would find out about Gage’s shifter side.

Gage had my pulse racing and while he is one hundred percent alpha, he is also sensitive and well, just plain hot. At first I didn’t know if I would like Mac or not, but her character grew a lot during the course of this story and I really grew to like her as well as the other team members. Super steamy, lots of action and suspense and good start to a new series.
