When Alexis James arrives at her first assignment in months, she anticipates the danger and violence rife in her calling as a Lycan Hunter. What she doesn’t expect is a handsome, blue-eyed wolf saving her life and kidnapping her. Surrounded by the enemy, Alexis must not only survive her prisoners but the bonds of a different sort that begin to form against her will.
Mikko Kyran was chosen by the gods to lead his pack, and he has made it his mission to end the eight thousand years of war plaguing his people. The Alpha never suspected that the key to the prophecy ending the Forever War would be held by a smart-mouthed, sexy Hunter determined to kill him.
Can two people from different worlds set aside everything they know about one another long enough to survive retribution from the Hunters, the pack, and the gods? Or will their differences start a war that neither can win?
Written with intensity and depth, The Lycan Hunter is the first in a thrilling new series.
Review: Oh man, I love a great Alpha male and this book has a great one. I was hooked from the first page.
The general story is one we’ve read before – humans hunting werewolves. What makes this one unique is the background story of how these two races came to be at war – Gods are involved and divide amongst themselves in support of either the Lycans or the Hunters.
Kyran is the leader of his pack, the Mikko. He is constantly dealing with pack issues and is starting to think about taking a wife, even though he hasn’t met his mate yet. It only takes minutes, while on a mission, to realize that his life isn’t going to go as planned. Kryan is a great character. I love many things about him (hello – he is sexy!) – he loves his pack to a distraction and strives to be a great leader. His brother is his best friend and he can really rely on and trust him. Also, he is sexy (did I mention that?). He a true alpha male – strong, loyal and dedicated to his mate.
Alexis is the Hunter tasked with killing a rogue Lycan in Kryan’s area. She’s always felt like an outsider – even with her family and definitely within the Hunters. When her brother was killed, she knew that one small mistake and she would follow in his path. When she is confronted by Kyran, she knows she is in trouble, not only with her heart but possibly with her life. She falls fast for Kyran and when she is taken hostage by another Hunter, she knows that she can’t ever go back to the mindless killer that she was. Alexis is a perfect mate for Kyran – she is strong and able to take care of herself. And she easily wins over the pack with her loyalty.
Kelsey Jordan has a great way of storytelling. I love that she uses humor in tough situations and that her romantic scenes are hot yet not overdone. The story is faced-paced with a lot of action and while sometimes I wished that there had been a bit more detail, I don’t think there is too much that I would change. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books!
