Jen:  Today we are excited to be a part of Atria Book’s Fall in Love Book Tour featuring some of the hottest names in New Adult literature.  Please help me welcome Jamie McGuire, Abbi Glines and Colleen Hooper to Romancing the Book.  Ladies, will you each share a short bio with us?

ABBI GLINES is the New York Times, USA TODAY, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Rosemary Beach, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys, and Existence series. A devoted booklover, Abbi lives with her family in Alabama. She maintains a Twitter addiction at @AbbiGlines and can also be found on Facebook and at AbbiGlines.com.

COLLEEN HOOVER is the New York Times bestselling author of Ugly LoveMaybe Someday, Losing Hope, SlammedPoint of RetreatThis Girl and Hopeless. She has been featured on ABC’s Nightline, The Associated Press and CBS This Morning. She lives in Texas with her husband and their three boys.  Find her at her website, on Twitter and on Facebook.

JAMIE McGUIRE is the New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful OblivionA Beautiful WeddingRed HillWalking DisasterBeautiful Disaster, and The Providence trilogy. She and her husband, Jeff, live with their children just outside Enid, Oklahoma, with three dogs, six horses, and a cat named Rooster.  Check out her website, Twitter and on Facebook.

Jen:  Tell us about this newest release and where the idea came from?
Abbi:  One More Chance is the sequel to TAKE A CHANCE. The idea behind Grant and Harlow’s story actually came from a true story – one that was my older brother’s many years ago. He was in love with a girl who had the same heart defect as Harlow. But in the end his fear over losing her tore them apart. It was something I remember watching happen and I’ve never forgotten it. Grant reminds me a lot of my brother. I don’t normally take character traits from people in my life and add them to characters in a book but with Grant I realized I was doing just that. He was a younger version of my brother. So the story fell into place when I sat down and began to write.

Colleen:  UGLY LOVE is a heart-wrenching love story. Hearts get infiltrated.  Promises get broken.  Rules get shattered.  It’s about the ugly side of love, but also finding beauty in broken places. As for the inspiration, I was listening to a song called “The Fifth Day” by The Airborne Toxic Event.  It inspired me to want to write a character that resembled the mood of that song, so I chose Miles and created the idea for Ugly Love from his character.  Since the band inspired the book, I named the heroine TATE, which is the band’s acronym.

Jamie:  Beautiful Oblivion is the first heart-pounding new adult romance in The Maddox Brothers series, following Trenton Maddox and Camille Camlin. You know Travis Maddox from Beautiful Disaster, but Trent brings something new to the Maddox name. The inspiration was simply readers wanting more Maddox.

Jen: What first attracts you to the opposite sex?
Abbi: Swagger. Seriously. It’s always been how guys carry themselves that attracts me first. A guy can be average but if he is sure of himself and isn’t worried about what anyone around him thinks it’s attractive.
Colleen:  Humor and kindness.
Jamie:  Confidence, but not cockiness

Jen:  Favorite shoes?
Abbi: My Sanuk yoga slings
Colleen:  Tom’s.  It’s all I wear.  I have about ten different pairs and I just alternate them.  I have a few pairs that I love so much, I wear them for a few months and then buy the same exact pair again.
Jamie:  My Ugg slippers

Jen:  Color your hair or go natural?
Abbi: Highlight it. My hair is a dirty blonde. I like for it to be lighter.
Colleen:  I’m not even sure what color my natural hair is anymore.  I’m afraid to stop coloring it long enough to find out.
Jamie:  Color!

Jen:  What is the perfect temperature?
Abbi:  70 degrees F
Colleen:  I like it in the seventies, which it hardly ever is in Texas.
Jamie:  90 F

Jen: What TV family would you want to be a part of?
Abbi:  Gilmore Girls.
Colleen:  HAHA!  Jamie said sisterwives.  I love this.  Oddly enough, I want to be a Gallagher from Shameless.  It’s so totally the opposite ofmy life right now; it might be quite the experience to have Frank as a father.
Jamie:  The Browns–Sisterwives

Jen:  If you could have dinner with any person living or dead, who would it be?
Abbi:  My Aunt Franky. She was a big part of my childhood. She passed away of cancer when I was ten and I still dream about her. She will always be missed.
Colleen:  Tiffanie de Bartolo.  I have a serious girl crush on her.
Jamie:  Stephenie Meyer.

Jen:  What’s next for you?
Abbi:  I have many more Rosemary Beach books to go. Tripp and Bethy’s story You Were Mine releases Dec 2. Then Mase Colt-Manning’s two books come out in April and June of 2015. Not sure who is after that… we will have to wait and see.

Colleen:  I’m working on Confess right now.  It’s a novel that revolves around two characters, Owen and Auburn.  Owen in as an artist and he and Auburn meet when she shows up to work for him.

Jamie:  Happenstance novellas and Apolonia.

First off, I just wanted to say I loved all of these answers! I also was one of the lucky ones who was able to go and visit you in Toronto last night, and it was fantastic! I loved getting to know you all, and Kathleen as well (especially her and her “Coke”-a-Cola comments).

I think it’s very important to get to know the person behind the books/stories!

Also, I wanted to answer one of the questions, “What TV family would you want to be a part of? Why?” because I would totally be in agreement with Abbi. I love the Gilmore Girls and I love the Mother-Daughter bond that Lorelai and Rory have. Although, in reality, my family is more like “The Simpsons”…all over the place.

  2. Casie Boland says:

I would want to be a part of the Reba tv show family! real life situations and problems were in the show and it makes it easier for people to relate too.

  3. Kristy Petree says:

It’s an oldie, but I’m going with the Brady Bunch. Didn’t everyone want that? You’ve got a nice house, siblings you only mildly disagree with, and enough money to have a stay-at-home mom AND a housekeeper. And they lived in California! Thanks 🙂

  4. veRONIca says:

Full House! I would love to end each week learning a valuable lesson while music plays in the background!

  5. Margay says:

The Gilmores – I just love them. Lorelei is the best and who wouldn’t want to be related to Richard and Emily? I just love the dynamics of everyone in this family.

  6. Stephanie F. says:

I loved this post and all great answers. I have to agree with Abbi on Gilmore Girls. Loved the dynamic between them all.

  7. Chelsea B. says:

The Vampire Diaries family. Don’t nobody stay dead. 😉
Alright, alright… In Jessica Fletcher’s family from Murder, She Wrote. She has such an extensive family she wouldn’t even notice that I’d slipped in there. 😉

  8. Karen G. says:

I would want to be adopted by the Cliff and Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show. I loved Cliff and Claire Huxtable and the whole family. That was the best show filled with fun, laughter, respect and love! =D

  9. Danielle Meek says:

I think it’d be interesting to be a part of the Beauchamp family from Witches of East End because they’re such a tight group, plus they’re witches, and well that’s pretty cool!
