Ginny and Cole have struggled to connect intimately since before their marriage. When Cole suggests they surprise each other with the most sexually daring things they can dream up for their anniversary, Ginny reluctantly musters every ounce of courage she possesses to get nipple piercings.

Cole’s surprise? He’s turned their suburban basement into a dungeon—and hired a sexy Dom to teach them the art of BDSM. Desperately in love with his wife, Cole’s aware of sensitive sexual demons in Ginny’s past, and will try anything to beat them. Whips, toys, ménage play with the Dom…all these and more could help Ginny find pleasure, break through her issues. Or, if they’re not careful, possibly just break Ginny.

Review:  When a married couple plans surprises to celebrate their wedding anniversary, neither one had any idea of the changes that would take place.

In Coming Unbound, author Lacey Savage introduces readers to Ginny and Cole. In spite of their efforts, Ginny has been unable to have an orgasm, which has significantly impacted her self esteem. Until she gets to the root of the problem and faces some demons from her past, she will never be able to let go. To spice up their bedroom play, both Ginny and Cole come up with anniversary surprises. The only question is whether the surprises will allow them to draw closer to drive them apart.

This story contains a frustrated wife who is introduced to the BDSM lifestyle as a method to help her find pleasure. It is adventurous yet safe at the same time. One of the most important themes introduced in the story centers around the stereotypes associated with the BDSM lifestyle. The message is that everyone has different needs.

It is not until later in the book that the reader finds out about Ginny’s past. This works well because the reader has already formed a solid connection to her, so the information only solidifies her as a strong character.

There is a heavy emphasis on marital love and maintaining the passion throughout a relationship. However, readers should be aware that there is a ménage scene in the story, but it flows well and doesn’t seem out of place.

The author takes the characters outside of their comfort zones in order to demonstrate how BDSM can impact a seemingly vanilla lifestyle by turning pain into pleasure.
