Venture into a world of fae, demons, and shifters in the Eternal Mates paranormal romance series by Felicity Heaton
It’s great to be here at Romancing the Book today as part of the Claimed by a Demon King Book Tour celebrating the release of the second book in my new Eternal Mates series of paranormal romance novels.
Today, I’m going to talk more about the species in the world where the Eternal Mates, and my Vampire Erotic theatre, series is set.
But before we get to the main event, I want to introduce myself. I’m a British paranormal romance author and a USA Today best-seller. I have been writing since 2005, and went indie in 2006. I love to write big worlds, populated by vampires, shifters, demons, fae and angels, and I have several series. This tour is about the Eternal Mates series, which is actually a spin-off from my Vampire Erotic Theatre series. That series focused on a family of vampires at one theatre in London but it had glimpses into the wider world outside the theatre. It’s that world of fae, dark elves, demons, witches, shifters, and other incredible species that the Eternal Mates focuses on.
Now, on with the show…
The Eternal Mates series features a huge detailed world of vampires, shifters, fae, angels and demons, but the central focus is on the elves.
And these elves are dark. They’re beautifully dark and deadly, and vicious too. They have psychic powers and can teleport, and wear extremely sensual and sexy black skin-tight armour they control with their minds. Not only that, but they’re immortal, have pointy ears and wicked purple eyes, and a penchant for drinking blood. Now, that blood part will make you think of vampires and the reason for that is because in this world, elves are the progenitors of vampires.
Millennia ago, elves corrupted by the darkness in our world turned into something evil and tainted. That taint on their souls stole most of their powers and cursed them to the shadows. Over centuries, those corrupted elves spawned what would become vampires. There is no love between vampires and elves. The vampires who know about their history, their ancestry, tend to bear a grudge against the elves because they don’t have the powers of their forefathers. They cannot walk in the sun, cannot eat food, and have lost their psychic abilities. In return, the elves despise the vampires because they are a constant reminder of what could become of them if they surrendered to the darkness within.
But elves and vampires aren’t the only species inhabiting the three realms—the mortal world, Hell and Heaven—involved in this series. In Hell, where the elves now live in peace in their verdant kingdom, there are also seven realms ruled by demon kings. These demons broke away from the Devil’s minions countless centuries ago and paid for their disobedience with a blood curse. Now, they constantly war over their kingdoms, locking horns and fighting with fang and claw. The demons possess the ability to teleport and brute strength that few other non-human species can match, and are mostly human in appearance, with the exception of some of their eye colours and the horns that curl from behind the top of their pointed ears.
Besides the elves and the demons, there are other species who occupy territory in Hell. Dragon shifters fiercely protect their black mountains. Bear shifters defend their dark forests. And the Devil rules an enormous expanse of lava-streaked land surrounding the major realms, penning them in from all sides.
In our mortal world, there are many other species of fae and non-humans. The witches keep mostly to themselves in the bustling fae towns, together with the phantoms, incubi and succubi. The angels come and go as they please, watching over humanity from a distance, monitoring the evil walking amongst us. The cat shifters stay in their prides around the world and the wolves keep their distance from humanity, and the vampires.
The vampires live in human society, running businesses and theatres, and behaving the most like us out of all the species. Their society has rules, punishments for those who break them, and a hierarchy based on the purity of the vampire blood in their veins. They live in plain sight but unknown to us.
But not to all mortals. Archangel, the world’s largest demon-hunting organisation, constantly studies the non-humans, policing them from the shadows, eliminating any who are a threat to us and even working with those they view as allies in order to protect us from their darker and more dangerous brethren.
This is just a fragment of this world, a taste of what paranormal species occupy it and make it their home, and of what’s to come in the Eternal Mates series.
So if you like hot and sensual dark elves, vampires, werewolves, demons, dragons and everything fae and witchy, take a peek at the second book in the series and step into their dark and dangerous world…
