Please help me welcome Sam Crescent to Romancing the Book. When I asked Crystal who to invite to the blog, Sam’s name was at the top of the list. And of course, she wanted to do the interview after Sam said yes to our invitation. Before we get to the interview, let’s learn a little about Sam.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011.
She loves creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
Crystal: When you first started reading did you know you were going to write so many different kinds of books?
Sam: To be honest I didn’t have a clue what I was going to write. My stories come to me and I just let the muse take over and write. I know I’ve got a lot of different books out with a variety of themes but I find it easier not to be tied down with one style.
Crystal: Do you have any plans on writing any more books for the Valentine’s?
Sam: The third book has just recently been released. I intend to write the last three and then the series should be finished.
Here’s the blurb for Adam:
To figure out the present, they need to go back to the past.
Poppy is the only remaining necromancer in the world. She is the one in control of the dead and she has been sent to the Valentines. There is an evil force at work and she must help Adam Valentine to uncover it before it’s too late.
Adam is intrigued by the young necromancer. Her scars do not affect him. He sees the strength inside her and he likes it. All he wants to do is protect her and claim her as his own.
They are on a mission to find out who the real alpha of the Beyer West pack is. But Poppy’s world is about to turn on itself as she needs to make a choice. There is no room for love in the life of a necromancer, yet after centuries of being alone, Adam has filled her life with meaning.
People will die and secrets will be revealed as the balance that protects them is broken. Can their love survive as the world is about to be sent into chaos? This is no longer about the wolves but something much bigger that neither of them can fight.
Crystal: Who is your favorite author? Why?
Sam: This is one question I could never answer. I love way too many authors to simply name just one.
Crystal: Which one of your books is your favorite and holds a special place in your heart?
Sam: I would have to say Blackmailed by the Beast is my favorite and will always hold a special place in my heart. It was my first book with Evernight where I found my area with rubenesque and dominant men but also because it was the book that became RWA pan eligible, which was amazing to get notification from my publisher when I reached it.
Crystal: How many books do you have in the works right now?
Sam: A lot. I’m working on a new series around a group of men. It’s still early in the works and I’m researching at the moment. Also, I’ve got the next Cape Falls, Imperfection, and Law Castle Bad Boys started.
Crystal: Tell us about your newest release and where the idea came from.
Sam: I’d like to talk about my co-written release with Jenika Snow. We got chatting on Facebook and we both thought it would be amazing to write a story together. Taken by Her Mate came about by us throwing some ideas together. I have to say, writing with Jenika is a wonderful experience and I hope Taken by Her Mate is the first of many books to come.
Here is the blurb:
A virgin betrothed to a womanizer…
Addie has been promised to Brendan since her birth. She no choice but to follow through and become the mate to a shape-shifting wolf she doesn’t love. But when Shaun, a childhood friend and the male she has always wanted, refuses to let her mate with another, she is afraid her love for Shaun will cause destruction between their packs.
The future alpha in love with a woman he can’t have…
Shaun has loved Addie since they were children, but she is promised to another male. Claiming her can start a war between their packs, but Shaun can’t stand back and let another male have her. When the heat between Addie and Shaun ignites, they know their attraction can’t be denied. But Brendan isn’t about to let Addie go, and when she is taken, Shaun will stop at nothing to get her back.
Shaun painted an ugly picture. Tears were once again streaming down her face. Seeing her misery was like another punch to the gut. He didn’t want to cause her pain. Being in the Northern Mountains was about winning her back for him. Losing her wasn’t an option. “Why are you doing this?” she asked. “It’s hard enough seeing it with my own eyes. I’ve got to mate him in one month, four days, and approximately nine hours.” He laughed. “You’re counting down the days until you’re mated?” “It’s not like that.” She fought his hold. Shaun tightened his grip refusing to give in. “Calm down. I’m not going to hurt you,” he said. “You’re hurting me. You being here hurts me. You left me without a word, and now you’re back to gloat. I thought you were my friend. I bet you’ve got a nice little mate waiting for you to take her.
You’ve always had the better end of the life. I’m just a fucking pawn for my father.” Her anger was finally unleashing. Shaun kept his argument inside letting her growl, curse, kick, and punch at him. She needed this release before she went back home. Addie didn’t have the first clue how his life had turned out. He’d been forced away from her in order to protect her precious virginity. Her father denied him her hand. Knowing she could be with Brendan sent his anger spiraling out of control. “Do you really think I had a fucking choice, Addie? I was told I wasn’t allowed to see you. I’m not the one in charge. Our parents are. They control what we do and our mates. I never, ever wanted to leave you,” Shaun said. He couldn’t live with her thinking he’d walked away without looking back. The first time he’d seen her in nearly three years and she was crying over that rotten bastard.
