Starling envied the easy life of pets…until she became one. Kidnapped from Earth and sold to the highest bidder, she now belongs to an alien king. But she doesn’t want to be his pampered possession. She wants Bekion to see her as an independent woman with needs and desires of her own.
Only deviants break the laws barring sex between owners and their pets, and King Bekion has no intention of succumbing to simple lust. But the long nights with Starling’s lush body pressed tight against his take a toll. Her strength and intelligence make it difficult for Bekion to remember Starling is forbidden. He knows it isn’t right but he can’t stop thinking of his pet and all the pleasure he could give her, even if it costs him his crown.
Review: Sterling has always thought that the life of a pet was easy and hated having to work without making something of herself. That is until the day that she is taken by aliens and sold as a pet. King Bekion never thought about having a pet but he had no choice to have one when his mother goes against his rules and buys his brother a human for a pet. Seems that all the pet’s that his brother gets ends up dying. Sterling is a woman that isn’t about to take anything from any one. She stands up for herself even when the King doesn’t like it.
This was a pretty good read. I am a little disappointed in the way the people were described. I don’t know why I can’t get out of my head the difference between the aliens and humans. Since Sterling is smaller than an average human I kept thinking that the aliens were huge and Sterling was a little bitty thing and that just mixed with some of the things that happened in the book. I just had in my mind giants and humans as the size of a little dog. The book was written well and the story was easy to stay with. I just think it was a little long and half the stuff in the book could’ve been faster or not needed at all. Just made me feel that we were a bunch of inbred people and not worth anything.
Now it did have some funny parts in the book. Enjoyed how Webber made the book livelier and kept it interesting. Some of the things he did I just couldn’t believe it and the way he always had to rub King Bekion. Webber was like if we are pets lets act like it. I have read books by this author before and loved them, it was just something about this book that I couldn’t get around. The electronics that they had was way above anything that we have. I think the part that really did me in was the ending. I guess I was expecting a happy ending and that everything would work out. In a way it did but not in the way I thought it would. I just didn’t like it and felt something was missing.
So all in all it was a ok read. There were things I liked and things that I didn’t and it left me with mixed feelings about this book and I just don’t know what else to say. If you like books that have aliens abductions, which I do, then you might like this book. It was that I couldn’t really get a hold of the whole size thing in my mind and the ending. But you can give this book a try and it might be just the book you are looking for.
