Jen: Today the Concealed Desire blog tour is making a stop at Romancing the Book, so help us welcome Eden Summers! Eden, will you share a short bio ?
Eden: Eden Summers is a true blue Aussie, living in regional New South Wales with her two energetic young boys and a quick-witted husband.
In late 2010, Eden’s romance obsession could no longer be sated by reading alone, so she decided to give voice to the sexy men and sassy women in her mind.
Eden can’t resist alpha dominance, dark features and sarcasm in her fictional heroes and loves a strong heroine who knows when to bite her tongue but also serves retribution with a feminine smile on her face.
Jen: Please tell us about your newest release and where the idea came from.
Eden: Concealed Desire is a contemporary romance set in Melbourne, Australia.
The idea came out of nowhere to be honest. I usually plan and plot, but I was driven to write Concealed Desire out of complete annoyance at myself for not finishing any of the stories I’d started.
One night, I sat down and instead of thinking things over a million times I simple put my finger to the keyboard and started typing. The first image in my mind was of a female drinking away her sorrows at a bar. Then her crush walks up behind her, the last man she wants to see in her drunken and depressed state.
From there I added more scenes beforehand and after and came up with Beth and Dean’s story of twoo wuv.
A love that breaks all the rules…
Since her first day at work, Beth Graison has been in love with Dean Sutherland—the “Son” in Sutherland & Son. Although he’s an unrepentant player, there’s an unmistakable connection between them, and she knows he feels it too. But she’s not about to risk her career for any man, especially one with an office right down the hall whom she works with every day.
Dean Sutherland doesn’t do love, but he does do women. And he hasn’t felt more than sexual attraction for any woman until Beth. Entirely feminine, smart, and with a natural beauty beyond compare, she makes him think about all kinds of uncomfortable things—like a future and happiness—things he knows from experience are pure fiction.
When his father, the “Sutherland” in Sutherland & Son, propositions Beth to be more than just an employee, Dean can’t keep her at arm’s length any longer. But he doesn’t expect the scorching kiss they share, or the idea that forms when he holds her in his arms. Can he stop his father’s manipulating game by making the first move on Beth? Or will his reputation as a womanizer make him just one more Sutherland she wants to ignore?
Jen: Describe your writing in 3 words.
Eden: Sarcastic, sexy, fun.
Jen: Is there a genre you’d like to write? Is there one you’ll probably stay away from? Why?
Eden: I’ll only ever write romance. Nothing else interests me, either writing or reading. So far I’ve only published or finished contemporary romance stories, but in the future I would love to get stuck into the fantasy romance and paranormal romances I’ve already started.
Jen: If this book was made into a movie, who do you see playing the main characters?
Eden: I actually based the appearance of Dean Sutherland on this image of Nathan Kamp. The ruffled dark brown hair and chocolate eyes. Yum, yum, yum.
And Beth Graison has the same features as the beautiful Lauren Conrad.
Jen: How do you come up with characters names?
Eden: I’m not going to say which story, but one of my male protagonists actually has the same name as a guy I worked with years and years ago. It wasn’t intentional. In fact it was far from it. And I didn’t realize until after the story had been contracted and edited.
Now I get teased at work. Lol.
So from then on I’ve used online name generators, baby name websites and the phone book.
Jen: What’s next for you?
Eden: I’m currently writing another contemporary romance novel and hope to extend it into a series. This time my focus is sexy rock stars. The five men of Reckless Beat hide behind their armor of arrogance and loose morals, but underneath the naughty exteriors are hearts of gold.
