Jen: Our guest today is Linda Engman, who is celebrating the release of My Sexiest Wedding with a visit to Romancing the Book.  Linda, will you share a short bio with us?
Linda: I’ve always been intrigued with the idea of falling for someone when you least expect it.  I love heroes who are sexy, rugged, hard working guys, and have fun creating heroines with careers, who also have a taste for fashion.  Sometimes I’ll set the story in a small hometown and other times in a fast-paced big city.  For myself, I live in NW-WI on a lake with my husband, our two teenagers, plus our two dogs.  I love shopping with my daughter, watching movies with my son, and coffee with my girlfriends.  You can visit me at www.lindaengman.com.

Jen:  Please tell us about your newest release and where the idea came from.
Linda: My latest book, My Sexiest Wedding was just released on January 23.  What’s a girl to do when her one-night stand shows up in her hometown looking for romance and love?  Spanish cowboy Rafael Quintero is determined wedding planner Spring James is the one for him.  Even though marriage is the last thing on her mind—at least for herself.   In My Sexiest Wedding, the hero actually started out as a best friend to the hero in my romance, Manhattan Holiday.  I thought Rafael was so sexy and intriguing, besides heartbroken, that he needed his own story.  So when my teenage daughter suggested my next romance should be about a wedding planner, I decided Rafael should be the hero.  Both MH and MSW are stand alone romances.

Jen: Describe your writing in 3 words
Linda: Romantic, Heartfelt, Sexy

Jen: How do you remember ideas that come to you at odd times?
Linda: I always have a notebook to jot down ideas.  For My Sexiest Wedding, I got this really cute girly notebook and took it with me on a trip to California to visit my sister. In the mornings I sat next to her pool and wrote out the first chapter of MSW and on the plane ride home I did plot points for the rest of the book. (The notebook is so cute I even posted a pic of it on my blog on my website.)

Jen: What’s the most interesting comment you’ve received about your books?
Linda: I’m totally thrilled to have reviewers and readers say my books are sexy and the plot and romantic drama keeps them intrigued and reading until the very end.  Besides being surprised by the endings.

Jen: What’s next for you?
Linda: Right now I just started an exciting new romance writing project for YA. I’m also finishing a romantic and heartfelt four part Navy SEAL series. I’m also busy completing a sequel to, My Sexiest Wedding. Lots of romance in the coming year. Feel free to stop by my website and find me on the any of the social sites. I hope you all enjoy the wintery, romantic season.

  1. what i love about attending weddings is seeing the wedding dress on the bride and looking at all the beautiful flowers

  2. I totally agree Laurie. I love the dresses! I really have a fun time doing research on wedding dresses for any of my heroines who happen to get married in any of my books. Same for flowers-lots of fun setting the scene with pretty flowers, candles, food. And the required handsome best man too! :)

  3. I love the cover of My Sexist Wedding, and Rafael sounds super hot ;) Can’t wait to read the book. I don’t have a book that I write ideas in…though I need to get a cute one like yours! Mine is a binder full of loose-leaf paper and it looks, well, a bit sad. I need to do some organizing!

  4. I hope I entered that rafflecopter the right way, ha! And I forgot to write what’s the best thing about the weddings…the food!!!

    • Niecey I started the notebook thing a while ago and it works great. Everything in one place for each book! And I agree-food is a major plus at weddings. I had a lot of fun planning the “menu” for the wedding scenes in My Sexiest Wedding. :)

  5. Researching weddings and wedding planning must have been so much fun! I love the atmosphere of hope, beginnings, friends and family at weddings. Congrats on the release – I’m looking forward to reading!

  6. I love seeing how happy the bride and groom are and seeing the bride’s gown and flowers.

  7. I love seeing all those pretty dresses and a chance to wear one of my own and eat the tasty treats!

  8. Joanne and May thanks for stopping by. There were so many details in My Sexiest Wedding when it came to the reception. My desk was littered with magazine clippings of flowers, dresses, cakes, grooms suits, as I wrote scenes. My teenage daughter had a lot of fun giving me advice on what she liked. She also suggested I write about a wedding planner. I thought it sounded fun and the next thing I know, my desk is covered with ideas and I’m writing My Sexiest Wedding. :)

  9. I love dressing up, feeling the love of the two getting married surround all the guests and just being with friends and/or family celebrating that love.

  10. Thanks for the fun post and congrats to Linda on the new release! To be honest, I really don’t like to go to weddings. I don’t like dressing up. But I do like reading about weddings!

  11. I love a lot of different things about weddings – I like watching two people pledge to be with each other for ever and enjoy watching all of the celebration that takes place. I love looking at the different fashions that you see at weddings and all of the things at receptions – just fun in general if they are done right.

I’m really excited to find out that Rafael is getting his story – I really enjoyed Manhattan Holiday and was hoping that Roman’s friends would get stories. Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. I love the happiness at weddings. You can just feel the love of the couple.

  13. I like the way you describe your writing.

  14. I’ve had so much fun here on Romancing the Book. If anyone wants to catch up with me I’m always around on Twitter and FB. I like to post about fun things, a little about what I’m writing and reading and cooking. :)

  15. This is my first time hearing of you Linda, but I like the sound of your book. I’m definitely gonna check it out.

  16. I love watching the couple say their vows. It is always so sweet and romantic.
