Jen: Today we welcome April Angel to Romancing the Book as her book tour makes a stop with us. April, please share a short bio with us.
April: Want to know about me? April Angel (aka Milly Taiden) was born in the prettiest part of the Caribbean known as the Dominican Republic. She grew up between New York, Florida and Massachusetts. Currently, she resides in New York City with her husband, bossy young son and their little dog Speedy.
She’s addicted to shopping for shoes, chocolate (but who isn’t?) and Dunkin Donuts coffee. A bookworm when she can get her hands on a good story, she loves reading all Mina Carter, Cynthia Eden, Laurann Dohner and Dianne Duvall among others.
Jen: Please tell us about your newest release and where the idea came from.
April: Stranded Temptation is a fun novella about a woman who loves to hate her boss. The idea came from my friend who has this guy at work she likes but gets on her last nerve LOL. I went nuts and let my imagination go crazy with it. The idea was fun and I love to come up with romances between couples that think they dislike each other.
Jen: Are you a plotter or pantser?
April: I try so hard to be a plotter and at times it works. But there are other times (like recently when I wrote Wolf Fever) that I just put fingers to keys and type. That’s it and don’t stop until I finish. The stories are clear at times and easy for me to put down while others I need to go around in circles and figure out how to make it work . So I guess I’m a bit of both.
Jen: Describe your writing in 3 words.
April: Wild Scorching Romance
Jen: How do you remember ideas that come to you at odd times?
April: This is a tough one. I try to carry a notebook around. Plus I also have a notepad on my phone. I get great ideas half asleep so I try to take quick notes to remember in the morning. Mostly, I just try to write words to remind me what it’s all about later on.
Jen: Who has influenced you as a writer?
April: My best friend. Mina Carter. She has a passion for writing that just encourages me to keep on going. Another great friend Lindsay Avalon who deals with cramping in her fingers but doesn’t let it deter her from writing. These are fantastic women who have a million things going on in their lives and always make time for me.
Jen: What do you do in your free time?
April: What free time? LOL. I like to read. But I love hanging with my family and just spending time with my son. So if I find a sliver of free time it is taken up by them.
Jen: What’s next for you?
April: As April Angel, Wicked Valentine is releasing on 1/25. As Milly Taidne, Wynter’s Captive on 1/18. I have other releases coming up under both names and looking forward to a fun and very busy year.
