Five Mini Reviews

We’re trying a new feature at Romancing the Book.  The following are reviews for books under 50 pages.  Due to the lengths of the books, the reviews are going to be short and to the point.  We would love your feedback on this format… does it work or not?

Review: In the Goblin Protector, the main charactes are  Lizzie, who is house sitting for her aunt and is taking some much needed alone time to unwind after college, and Lorcan, a Goblin king who as soon as he sees Lizzie knows that she is his chosen mate.

This story it really didn’t have much of a plot, but was there was good. The author did a great job keeping my attention and wanting me to find out what would happen next.  Ms Frost set up the ending leaving me hanging for more.

I enjoyed this book. It made the point that you shouldn’t really judge a book by it’s cover. What you think could be safe isn’t. Something that scares you at first might just be your protector.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. This book is the first in the series and I can’t wait to read the rest to find out what will happen next. So I will go and see what surprises are in store for me.

Her Goblin Prince by Thalia Frost (Goblin Market # 2)

Review:  I enjoyed the plot of this story I was really getting into it. The characters in Her Goblin Prince were evenly matched. Sierra is strong and just trying to figure out what she wants to do. Even though she is alone with no family she doesn’t let that stop her. Godwin is a man that takes care of his clan and the woman that he knows is his.  When I reached the last page I was left hanging. I really want to find out more about the Goblins and what all is going on.  Yes this is a short read and there is one little menage scene. This series is just getting better with every book. I get to find out just a little bit more and then I am still left wanting to know more. I can’t wait to read the next book. I believe that I have a secret desire for Goblins and I’m not afraid to admit it.

Her Goblin Warrior by Thalia Frost (Goblin Market # 3)

Review: In this mini read we get to meet Paige and Maximus. Paige is Sierra’s cousin who is in the second book. Paige has made a vow to stay away from the opposite sex. Maximus is a warrior and he’s not about to give Paige up.  I just want for once that someone gets to love a long life with the one they love. I just wonder how Paige and Maximus will be able to work it out so that Paige doesn’t lose the independence that she craves.  Both are very strong willed and neither wants to lose.

So even though this is the shortest of the Goblin Market books, it has a lot more information in it. This is the third book of the series and I am left wondering if this is the last or do we get another one in the near future. I have really enjoyed being able to read these books even though they are short. Sometimes in life the short one’s are better than the long ones.

Santa, Cutie by Cerise DeLand (1Night Stand # 66)

Review: This story features Susanna Corrigan who is a costume designer who is putting her all into her career. She is a tough girl who has a lot happen in her life and it looking for someone to be close to even if it is just for one night.  Her match for 1Night is Gil Santana a producer who is fed up with Hollywood! He has a very jaded outlook on women as a whole. He’s seen way to many women after fame anyway they can get it.

I thought it was great that we are introduced to the couple and learning details about them before we find out that they are each other’s match. Sparks fly fast and furiously. I think it is so sweet that they want each other badly but think it’s wrong because they are suppose to be meeting someone else. The pull between them is too much to not act on their attraction to each other anyway. This is a HOT story about two people that are in need of love, sex, and comfort.

And Then There Was Anthony by Jaxx Steele

Review: I absolutely adored the characters in this book. I adored Luke. His character was strong and sexy, but sensitive and tenderhearted. His buddy Nick, the matchmaker as I’ve dubbed him, is a sweetheart and he really lent a wonderful aspect to the story. But, my favorite character was Anthony. I loved the way he was so good to Luke being his friend first and foremost, knowing that Luke has been through an ordeal.

I loved the plot line. It started out hot and heavy with a fabulous erotic scene, and then wound down into what the actual story was about. The start of the story was needed to understand Luke’s take on life and his feelings about dating. For a novella, this was truly a wonderfully written piece that comes to life for the reader.

All in all, this is a beautifully done novella. The ending hits all the right places. While I would have loved to have continued on with the story and not said goodbye to characters that made a home in my heart, Mr. Steele rounded out the story in a fabulous way. The romance between the characters was well written and not overly sappy like some, and that is what draws me to a m/m romance.
