Welcome to Bend-Bite-Shift
When I started writing Witch Way Bends it was just a single story, a snippet really. By the time the book was finished I’d decided on a trilogy: the Bend-Bite-Shift Trilogy. I’d barely gotten halfway through writing book 2, Bitten Shame, when I realized there was a short story in there too. So came “Tell A Soul” in the Cupid Painted Blind anthology.
Today I thought I’d introduce you to my characters – better start getting to know them soon because the way things are going, I have a feeling this adventure may turn even more epic.
Devan – She’ just a gal hell-bent on ending to her father’s underground business of selling children. She can’t imagine the world she’s about to discover and certainly would never believe the magical powers she herself possesses. It will take new and old friends to unlock her true potential – and also the love of a very sexy witch named Kent.
Kent – He’s the tough, stoic leader. His job is always to find the bad guys and to put them out of business. His crew is a reliable one and he knows they can get the job done. What he doesn’t need is the beautiful and naïve Devan to get in his way; nor the constant temptation she presents. Denying his attraction to her seems to be his only option… or is it?
Langston – Ah, Langston’s the one I affectionately call the gentle giant. He’s a huge guy, but has a way about him that’s unassuming, confident and strong. He’s Kent’s best friend and the glue that keeps the entire team together and on track. Ever calm and collected, the only thing that can turn this powerful giant on his head is a long lost love.
Kristana – She’s a lost soul when she stumbles upon a job that puts her head to toe with one very discombobulated giant. Unexplainably connected and attracted to Langston, she can’t for the life of her she cannot discern why. But mysterious voices in her head are tearing her apart, and he may be the only one who can help her discover how to save herself.
Jill – She’s a beautiful, spirited vampire and formerly Devan’s college roommate. When these BFFs get back together, Jill’s only goal is to save her friend from the powerful Org who are out to destroy her. If she’s lucky, she hopes her quest will help her bury the memory of her lover Doc. How could she know the past she’s trying to escape would be the key to her destiny?
Doc – He never wanted the life that was thrust upon him – the dark life of a vampire. Still, his solitude gives him the means to cope; that is until the very sexy Jill turns his world upside down. She’ll take possession of his heart and his soul, but the penalty for their love might be higher than he can afford to pay.
Nicky – He’s a dhampire, the offspring a human and a vampire. That makes him a deadly hunter of the vampire race, and an integral member of Kent’s team. To his associates he’s just a mercenary for hire, a heavy. But to Gerry, he’s her man – and she’s the one woman who can turn his coarse soul to that of a gentle lover.
Gerry – She’s a shapeshifting witch with a unique bag of tricks. Her personas change from moment to moment like flipping a switch – at times even she can’t remember who she really is. Somehow Nicky’s found the portal to reach the heart of her, but according to the rules, theirs is a forbidden love.
So welcome to the world of Bend-Bite-Shift. Witch Way Bends (Devan and Kent) and “Tell A Soul” (Langston and Kristana) are both available now. Look for Bitten Shame (Jill and Doc) this Spring and Shifty Business (Nicky and Gerry) later this year.
Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child. Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings. Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement. With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words. She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she’s generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work. A native Texas girl from Port Arthur, Olivia still lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband Danny and their puppy Bonnie.
