Shannon is a quarter puma but can’t shift. She’s just a human with a few extra genes. But she knows how dangerous shifters are and now she’s their prey, captured by a group of werewolves for a deadly hunt. Then she’s rescued by the biggest werewolf of them all. He’s the sexiest male she’s ever seen—jet-black hair, muscular body, piercing dark eyes and a growl that heats her blood.
Anton’s body responds fervently to Shannon and he vows to protect her with his life—only to discover she’s the enemy. As the future alpha of his pack, Anton knows a cat will never be accepted. There’ll be hell to pay. But it’s mating heat, and he’s about to lose all control to that driving sexual need. His wolf wants her, can smell her desire. There’s no way to stop it now—his animal won’t be denied.
Review: I am still fairly new to paranormals and don’t read a lot in this genre but I do enjoy a good shifter story now and again. This one is definitely unique in that we have the pairing of a puma and a wolf. For being “enemies”, Shannon and Anton sure were steaming up the pages. This story was more than just hot and steamy though. There were laughs, edge of your seat suspense and affectionate moments too.
What I initially thought was the main storyline was resolved fairly early on almost behind the scenes and I was a bit disappointed that it was wrapped up so neatly. There was another twist to the story however that more than made up for that minor blip which blindsided me and left me stunned.
I loved the interaction with Anton’s brothers and cousin and sincerely hope that Ms. Dohner writes more in this series. I can’t wait to read book 1.
