Interview & Contest: Raine Delight

Jen: We are excited to have Raine Delight as our guest this week. Raine, will you please share a short bio with us?
Raine: Sure thing….here is my official bio for you.

Raine Delight loves to be pampered by her harem of men that exist solely for her pleasure. Wait…..that was in a movie she saw. Hey, she can dream. J Raine loves to fight with her muse, attack her manuscripts and find a way to silence the many voices in her head. Inspiration hits at odd times and for Raine, a blank word document page gives her many possibilities on story ideas. Living with her two kids, a significant other who supports her every move in writing and doesn’t seem to mind she gets up at 2 am to type away on the computer. With a love for Johnny Depp, movies and 80’s hair bands, Raine finds a way to bring all her chaotic thoughts into a story that tells her readers about love and romance.

Jen: Tell us about Devon Falls 1: Sticky Magic and where is can be purchased.
Raine: Devon Falls is a series near and dear to my heart. Sticky Magi introduces the readers to this unique (well I think so anyways) small town full of paranormal creatures living, working and loving among the humans there. Each of the first five books is set around a holiday-Halloween, Christmas/Yule, Valentines, 4th of July, etc. Sticky Magic is Christmas and introduces Jenna Stevens and Marc du Bree to the readers. You get a glimpse of future main characters and I am hoping you enjoy the hot tale of a sex mage finding his destined mate in this small town.

You can find it at Secret Cravings Publishing (, All Romance (, Barnes & Nobles Nook (, Amazon Kindle.

Jen: At what age did you discover writing? When where you first published? Tell us your call story.

Raine: I always loved to write but only as a dabbler. I seriously didn’t start writing until a few years ago and after a few rough drafts I keep hidden in a dark spot of the basement, Devon Falls was formed. I contracted the first book, Sticky Magic, a few weeks after I wrote it and then as they say the rest is history. The first publisher went out of business as did a few others but finally found the perfect home for the series at Secret Cravings Publishing (

Jen: Do you have a writing routine?

Raine: Actually I don’t. I write when I can fit it in between my day job, kids, my honey, family, etc. Some days I don’t get to write & other days I can write for several hours.

Jen: Do you struggle with deadlines? How do you deal with the pressure?

Raine: I do actually. I try to give myself a writing deadline to get a submission done but my fickle muse loves to leave me hanging some days. I deal with the pressure by just writing and hoping that it will eventually make sense.

Jen: Would you still write novels even if you didn’t get paid?

Raine: Sure, but I do like the money. *laughs*

Jen: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Easiest? Most rewarding?

Raine: Finding time to write. It’s been difficult balancing everything.

Easiest…starting a new story. The words flow and I love creating something new. Now if the muse would just stop giving me ideas.

Rewarding…seeing readers actually like my books. Makes me happy to hear from them online that they liked such and such character or they want to go move to Devon Falls.

Jen: Do you have a favorite character or one you most identify with?

Raine: Oh man, *thinks* not really. Jenna in Sticky Magic is more me personality wise but otherwise there are none that I really identify with…though I wouldn’t mind being taller.

Jen: If you could travel back in time for one year, what time and place would you choose? If you could only take 3 things with you, what would they be?

Raine: Oh goddess, maybe um….*thinks* maybe to 18th century or thereabouts, when Queen Elizabeth I was in charge. Would love to see in person how the wardrobes were, the feel of it all.

I want an economy size jar of aspirin, my e-reader with unlimited battery with a ton of books on it & my favorite soap from Bath & Body. I like being clean. *laughs*

Jen: Do you do anything to celebrate a sale, new contract or release?

Raine: I am thrilled to share that there won’t be a lag in releases in the Devon Falls series. Book 2, Red Hot Magic (has a dream walker as a hero) is coming, barring any editing issues, Sept. 7th, Fiery Magic (my dragon shifter love story) come out in October, Haunting Magic (my wolf shifter Halloween story) drops by in November and in December the brand new, never been seen or read Moonlight & Magic (white tiger shifter romance) drops in for readers to enjoy. The first four books are re-releases but I did expand the stories and they have new covers as well.

I also have several new stories working its way through my beta readers. Once I figure out where they might fit, I will try to work on this MM story that is haunting me. You can keep up on my blog, facebook page and website for more details and to get a glimpse at my covers. I even have a Jimmy Thomas cover (Sticky Magic) that I am just gag-ga over.

Jen: What do you do in your free time?

Raine: What free time? *laughs* I try to spend some evenings reading, watching a dvd of my favorite tv shows or movies, playing video games and just relaxing with my honey and kids. I like to walk, hike at local state parks when weather is nice and just recharge my batteries.

Jen: What’s next for you?

Raine: Oh man, I got so many ideas in my head, it’s not funny. The muse has me busy and right now I am concentrating on edits for Red Hot Magic and Fiery Magic. I am hoping to have my sci-fi Menage subbed out in the next month. It’s my ode to my love of Firefly‘s Captain Malcolm Reynolds and Pirates of the Caribbean‘s Capt. Jack.  I am very excited as it is also my first MMF story with my first ever written MM Scenes. *grins* I am also putting down details for a new series called Destined Mates where different paranormal creatures find they have three days once the mating mark appears on their body to find, accept and mate with their chosen one or they will fade away. I love the creation of this and my Paranormal BDSM series, Club Fantasy. Lots coming in the next few years.
