What’s your favorite dish?
I’m not talking about food here. I want to know what your favorite man dish is?
Do you like smoldering Italians? Or spicy Latinos? Maybe some powerful Polynesian or sultry African? What about the all-American boy next door? Or that sun-kissed surfer with the million dollar smile? Or, wait, a cocky (pun intended) Irishman? How about a little bit of all of them rolled into one, or are you a purist?
As a writer, I do write what I know. My husband is half Italian and half German. The Italian rules. The only clue to his German roots is his coloring. He was raised in a loud Italian household.
I grew up in a city where diversity was segregated. The Irish lived here, the Italians there and the Greeks over there. I was never really immersed in any culture. I was the WASP who stood at my front door looking out into a world that was beyond my reach. It wasn’t until I moved to California almost 30 years ago that I landed feet first into an amazing cornucopia of cultures. Wild, passionate cultures. Latino, Pacific Islander, Asian, African, Middle Eastern. I was awed and amazed. And in love.
I’m going to be honest, I found myself drawn to the passionate Latinos. I loved their traditions, and their passion for life. The food was good too! And then there was the Italian side of my husband’s family. Loud. Check. Arrogant. Check. Passionate. Check. Loyal. Check. Protective. Check. Lovers of good food, good wine and a good fight. Check. This WASP from the east coast never stood a chance. I was either in, or I was out. Thirty years later, I’m in so deep I can’t see past my family. My kids are loud, passionate, loyal and will kick your ass if you so much as look like you’re about to disrespect their family.
These are the people who populate my stories. Multi-dimensional, passionate characters who in their complexity are very basic. They live hard, play hard and love harder.
And while I have seen some vera sexy looking men in my lifetime, to me the sexist men are the ones who are strong enough and confident enough to show their tenderness for their loved ones. And of course who will also kick anyone’s ass who threatens their family. That’s the way my men roll!
So, if you read my stories, you will always see a glimpse or two of my husband and my sons. Really, all I have to do is look around my house and there he is, that imperfect hero.
Now, ladies, do tell, what is your favorite man dish? Be as detailed as you want! I want to hear all about him!

Though terrified by the savage Lucien, Falon finds herself drawn to him. Torn between the love she has for Rafael and the hunger she holds for Lucien, the will of Falon’s heart will lead her to her destined life mate–but it may also doom the brothers and the
