Professional mercenary Dare Macintosh lives by one hard and fast rule: business should never be personal. If a cause appeals to him and the price is right, he’ll take the mission he’s offered. But then the lovely Molly Alexander asks him to help her track down the men who’d had her kidnapped—and for the first time, Dare’s tempted to combine work with pleasure.
Fiercely independent, Molly vows to trust no one until she’s uncovered the truth. Could the enemy be her powerful estranged father? The ex-fiancé who still holds a grudge? Or the not-so-shy fan of her bestselling novels? As the danger heats up around them, the only anchor Molly has is Dare himself. But what she feels for him just might be the most frightening thing of all….
When Dare Macintosh is hired by a friend to find his missing sister, he knows that the job will be dangerous. He knows that he’s going to find women being abused and sold for human trafficking. What he doesn’t count on is one woman, set apart from the other women, chained in the corner, battered and bruised. During the rescue, he makes a split minute decision to save her too, knowing that her family and friends, wherever they are, will be thankful. He’s wrong.
Molly Alexander, famous author, thank you very much, doesn’t even ask Dare to call and let anyone know she’s been rescued. No one has even reported her missing and she’s been gone for days. How is that possible? Why was she abducted?
The men of this trilogy certainly sizzle in their looks but it’s their personalities and kindness that really make them great. They are mercenaries but they have morals and lines that won’t be crossed. They’re loyal and they’re fiercely protective of their friends and family. Dare’s protective instincts scream out to him when he meets Molly. She doesn’t cower or cry or freak out when he expects her to. She trusts him totally and without fear, despite what she’s been thru. Most surprising of all, she hires him to find out who is responsible for her terror. She wasn’t held like the other girls. She was beaten, tortured, and drugged – for days.
What’s a big protective guy to do when a girl looks at him with those trusting eyes? What’s a girl to do when the big protective guy is the best one she’s ever had in her life? These two have a lot of obstacles to hurdle. Are their feelings real or just caused by the circumstances? Enter one persistent and sarcastic assistant and two lovable dogs and the story just flies from page one until the end. Wow.
Quote: “Though she obviously didn’t know it, Molly was a sexy mix of innocence, courage, independence, and honesty. The combo hit him on a gut level. It had been a hell of a long time since a woman had really gotten to him. He’d made a point of not letting them.” Page 102.
