Blogoversary Day 30: Lauren Fraser

Jen: We are excited to have Lauren Fraser as our guest today. Lauren, will you please share a short bio with us?

Lauren: I’m really excited to be here. Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your blogoversary celebration. Alright a little bit about me. I’m a Canadian girl, living on the west coast and I admit I love to do all those outdoorsy things that people think of when they think BC; kayaking, hiking, camping, and since it’s summer that’s how I’ve been spending most of my days. I’m happily married with two kids. Hmm… what else would you like to know… oh, I guess you might want to know what I write. LOL I write contemporary romance, so far it’s generally been on the spicier side.

Jen: Tell us about Dani’s Duo and where is can be purchased.

Lauren: Dani’s Duo is a contemporary m/f/m menage story available from Ellora’s Cave. Here’s the blurb:

Attorney Danika James is ready to celebrate her greatest win to date, but not with a bunch of stodgy lawyers and martinis. Beneath Danika’s buttoned-up exterior lives a woman with wild-side desires she has yet to fully discover.

Tattoo artist Paddy O’Shea walks on society’s razor edge. When he learns his best friend, Cooper Hanes, has more than a casual interest in Danika, Paddy suggests a weekend celebration of exploration none of them will ever forget.

For the next forty-eight hours the men satisfy fantasies Dani didn’t even know she had. But every party has to end. Doesn’t it? Or can the courtroom diva turn Dani’s Duo into something as permanent as one of Paddy’s tattoos?

Jen: At what age did you discover writing? When where you first published? Tell us your call story.

Lauren: As a teenager I wrote quite a bit but it certainly wasn’t something I ever showed anyone, very angsty stuff. LOL About two and a half years ago I seriously started writing with the idea of publication. My first published story was actually a short story written for a cover contest. The cover was already made and the goal was to write the story that fit that cover. When I won the contest I was beyond shocked.

Jen: Describe your writing in three words.

Lauren: Hot, emotional, passionate

Jen: How do you approach your writing? Do you plot or go with the flow?

Lauren: I tend to plot a good chunk of the book before I sit down and write, but as I try to get the words on the page they often take on a life of their own. The end result is usually how I imagined it, but the road is a little windier. LOL

Jen: What are your biggest motivations to write? What keeps you going?

Lauren: My kids are my biggest motivators and they keep me going. Honestly, they are the reason I finally got up the guts to submit something I’d written. I’d been talking with them about not letting your fears hold you back and I realized that was exactly what I’d been doing. One of those do as I say not as I do kind of moments and I decided I needed to lead by example.

Jen: Is there a genre you’d like to write? Is there a genre you’ll probably stay away from? Why?

Lauren: I would like to try my hand at romantic suspense at some point because I love to read it and I think it could be a lot of fun to write.

Although I really like reading historical novels, I’ll probably stay away from them because honestly it would require an insane amount of research to ensure historical accuracy since it is not an area I feel overly confident in. The periods kind of run together for me a bit as far as dress goes.

Jen: How do you pick character’s names?

Lauren: No idea, I think they kind of pick me. LOL. I generally know who the character is before I fully decide on the name. Sometimes it’s about how the name flows off the tongue when it’s shortened and what mood it has, for example some names just say bad-boy. *grin*.

Jen: If you could travel back in time for one year, what time and place would you choose? If you could only take 3 things with you, what would they be?

Lauren: Oh my goodness that’s a hard one. I’m pretty fascinated with Scottish History so maybe Scotland in the mid 1800’s. What would I bring? Well I’d definitely want to make sure I had every immunization possible before I left. LOL then I’d bring toothpaste, toothbrush and penicillin.

Jen: What’s the most interesting comment you’ve received about your books?

Lauren: I love hearing from readers. I think the comment that touched me most was a women who emailed me to say that my book gave her hope, that she too could find “The One” after being divorced.

Jen: What do you do in your free time?

Lauren: Mostly hang out with my kids, as I mentioned above we are a pretty active family so we spend a lot of time hiking and kayaking.

Jen: What’s next for you?

Lauren: I just signed a contract with Ellora’s Cave for a sexy fireman story called Too Hot, I haven’t received a release date yet but I’ll post it on my website as soon as I have more details. I’m looking forward to seeing the cover for this one. *grin*

Jen: Where can you be found on the web?

Lauren: Website:

I’m just in the process of switching to a fanpage on facebook rather than my normal page. So here’s that link too.

Jen: Is there anything you’d like to ask our readers?

Lauren: Actually, yes. Since Dani’s Duo is m menage story I’m curious for those readers who enjoy ménages what combination do you prefer. M/F/M, M/M/F, M/F/F? And I guess tied into that question, there are lots of menage type books with more than 3 people involved, and I’m wondering how many is too many for you as a reader?
