Interview and contest with Jennifer Labelle

Jen: Our guest today is Jennifer Labelle.  Jennifer, will you please share a short bio with us?

Jennifer: Sure, I live in Ottawa, Ontario Canada with my husband and three beautiful children. After my third child and only daughter was born I became a stay at home mom. With children ages 10, 4 & 3 I have a very active home, and like to spend my down time engrossed in the stories that I create, or I like to escape for awhile with reading someone else’s creations. I’m an active reader, and I have a degree in addiction’s work, otherwise I’m just a pretty plain girl who leads a pretty boring life.

Jen: Tell us about Meant To Be.

Jennifer: Meant To Be is an emotional story about, love, loss and new beginnings. It’s ultimately about the triumph of forgiveness, love, strong family connections, and close friendships, as Jenna takes readers through personal growth, unique experiences, and some sizzling loving.

Jenna Baker is shaken up after her recovery with a near death experience. As if, being haunted with visions and losing her husband in a car accident weren’t hard enough. Could she be losing her mind? She finally moves on, only to have the husband she thought was dead suddenly reappear.

After the shocking task of convincing Jenna that she’s not seeing his ghost, Tyler becomes overwhelmed with guilt for saving himself and leaving her to almost die. Jenna’s recovery takes its toll while Tyler’s vulnerability gets the best of him. He’s harbouring secrets that will devastate her and as Jenna unravels the truth her life takes an unexpected journey.

Jen: At what age did you discover writing? When where you first published? Tell us your call story.

Jennifer: I’ve been actively reading and writing since high school, but it wasn’t until my last child, and only daughter was born that I decided to persue it professionally. I became a stay at home mom then and had more time to actually sit down to write a novel. Before then I stuck with short stories and attempted poetry.

Jen: How do you approach your writing? Do you plot or go with the flow?

Jennifer: I’m a plotter, big time, and although I usually change my plot as I go along I have to start with an outline. I’m all for going with the flow in other aspects of my life, but when it comes to my writing, I have to have a game plan.

Jen: Do you have a theme, object or person that appears in all of your stories?

Jennifer: No, at least not intentionally. *shrugs* I do try and stay away from clichés and apparently have a dark side. I strive to surprise, and I aim to be unique.

Jen: What is it about the romance genre that appeals to you?

Jennifer: I love to read it, and it’s so much fun to write about. My life is far from romantic *chuckles* so why not create a little fantasy, right? I also like the shock factor when my friends and family find out about it. It’s priceless.

Jen: How much influence does the editor have over the story or characters?

Jennifer: Editors are wonderful to help you perfect your work for your readers, but ultimately this is your story, so if there is something they suggest that you don’t like you can refuse. I was fortunate enough to have a great working relationship with both of mine at SCP and Romance Divine though.

Jen: How do you pick character’s names?

Jennifer: I look up names in baby books or on the internet. Sometimes I pick them because of their meaning, culture, or uniqueness, but ultimately when I’m looking for a name I know who my character is already in my head so it has to fit their personality.

Jen: If Meant To Be was made into a movie, which actors would you cast as the main characters?

Jennifer: Cam Gigandet for Tyler, Ian Somerhalder would make a good Brady, and maybe someone like Rachel Mcadams as my Jenna. Need I say more…

Jen: Do you do anything to celebrate a sale, new contract or release?

Jennifer: *sigh* Not really, but I should.

Jen: Most people only dream of becoming a published writer. Now that you’ve accomplished this, is there something else you dream of doing?

Jennifer: I dream of continuing. I dream of being acknowledged, instead of being the near nameless newbie to the writing world, and I hope that you all enjoy my work and know that I appreciate the support.

Jen: What’s next for you?

Jennifer: Well, I’m pleased to announce that I have another release; When Sparks Ignite (Leather and Pleasure 2) it will be available on May 20. Happy release day to me,

Rhys Evans should feel on top. He’s got a booming business, money, and the subs are a dime a dozen in his ever growing, popular fetish club, Leather and Pleasure. So why is it that he feels unfulfilled? There’s something missing in his life, and it isn’t until he meets Eden that he realizes she’s the one he needs to ignite the passion that he lacks to go on.

Eden Mayer is tired of living her regular routine, and has been feeling way too lonely lately. So, when her best friend suggests she try out this new club she’s never heard of before, she decides to throw caution to the wind and check it out. What she’s met with is a night she’ll never forget, a new experience she vows to keep, and the most gorgeous man she’s ever laid eyes on. Rhys Evans makes it a night she’ll never forget.

Heidi Taylor has fallen in love with a man who is off limits. He’s her best friend, and she’s afraid to tell him how she really feels. So when she hits a dry spell in her romantic life, Nathan makes it his duty to spice things up for her, shocking her, and making her true feelings known.

Nathan De Costa met the most amazing woman alive three years ago when he placed a roommate wanted ad in the newspaper. He’s secretly loved Heidi for almost two years, and decides to make his move once her love life hits a rough patch. The problem is that his sexual tastes are risqué and he’s not sure that Heidi would be able to keep up. She shocks him by becoming everything he’s ever wanted and more, but it’ll take almost losing her for good to make him finally make her his, permanently.
