Jen: Today we welcome Katherine Garbera to Romancing the Book. Katherine, tell us about Taming the VIP Playboy and where it’s available.
Katherine: This story was inspired by Dancing With the Stars which I love to watch! Nate Stern is a former Yankees baseball player who owns the hottest club in Miami and he is attracted to the lead dancer at his nightclub. Its available wherever books are sold.
Jen: At what age did you discover writing and when were you first published? Tell us your call story.
Katherine: I discovered writing when I was 23 and was published by 26. I had an agent and we’d submitted my manuscript to the Sr. Editor of Desire and she had a voicemail from them that they wanted to talk to her about my work. She called me late at night on Wednesday to tell me this and I took the next day off from work to stay home and wait for her call. About 10 am she called to tell me they wanted the book and then shortly after we talked my editor called. I wasn’t sure it had really happened!
Jen: Describe your writing in three words.
Katherine: Sensual, emotional, rewarding
Jen: Have you noticed your writer’s voice has changed over the years due to your experience? If so, how?
Katherine: I think I’m a bit darker now thanks to the last few years of my life but I don’t know that I’ve changed that much.
Jen: What is it about the romance genre that appeals to you?
Katherine: The feeling of following in love and the happily ever after.
Jen: Do you feel as if the characters live with you as you write? Do they haunt your dreams?
Katherine: I do dream about my books and when I’m writing I’m in two worlds–this one and my character world, but once the book is over I tend to move on.
Jen: What five authors or people, from the past or present, have been important to you as an author? What question or comment have you always wanted to say to them?
Katherine: Baroness Orczy–I’d say thank you for writing such a romantic dashing hero
Mozart–I have no idea what I’d say but I just like to be in his presence
Jen: Do you do anything special to celebrate a sale, new contract, or release?
Katherine: I have a special dinner with my family and I used to buy charms for my charm bracelet but I don’t do that any more.
Jen: What’s the most interesting comment you have received about your books?
Katherine: I had someone write to me that one of my books helped her through her divorce and that it made her realize not all men were like her ex. This was especially touching to me because it was a book series I’d written while going through my divorce.
Jen: Where can you be found on the web?
