Jen: This week we are happy to welcome Serenity King to Romancing the Book. Serenity, will you please share a short bio with us?

Diamond’s Seduction is my upcoming release. That story will also be available through

Jen: At what age did you discover writing and when were you first published? Tell us your call story.
Serenity: Although, I have been reading romance since the age of 16, it wasn’t until my early twenties that realized that I wanted to write romance. I have never wanted to write anything else.

My first story ever written was A Train Ride to Glory. That story was based on my late grandmother. The story was written for family members to enjoy and it wasn’t a romance story. My first published story was Let’s Ride published in May of this year through Beautiful Trouble Publishing. My second, Simply Beautiful was released in June of this year.

Jen: Describe your writing in three words.
Serenity: Sweet, respect, and loyal.

Jen: How do you approach your writing? Do you plot or go with the flow?
Serenity: Hmm, interesting. I would say that I plot things out in my head then go with the flow.

Jen: What is it about the romance genre that appeals to you?
Serenity: The romance of course. Two people connecting mind, body, and spirit. Let’s face it, sex is a dime a dozen, but true romance is not sex, it’s making love. All of my stories just simply have to be HEA.

Jen: What’s the most challenging aspect of writing? Easiest?
Serenity: The most challenging aspect of my writing is actually sitting down and getting the story onto paper. There’s also bringing the characters, plot, and setting together to create a story for my readers to enjoy. I never want my readers to feel cheated after reading my works. I am my biggest critic.

Jen: What’s the most rewarding aspect?
Serenity: The most rewarding aspect of my writing is writing the story then seeing “my” story in print. That is the most rewarding feeling. Almost like giving birth. Labor pains and all. I carried this baby, held it close to my chest, and when it was time I birth it. Wow!

Jen: What five authors or people, from the past or present, have been important to you as an author? What question or comment have you always wanted to say to them?
Serenity: Since there has only been a select few authors that have been important to me as an author I’ll take the Fifth on this question.

Jen: What did you do to celebrate your first book?
Serenity: I danced around my house like a fool. Seriously, I was jumping up and down like a child. Pumping my fist in the air and doing my happy dancing all through the house. It was an awesome feeling.

Jen: What’s the most interesting comment you have received about your books?
Serenity: If I had a choice of a sex scene in my book which one would I try? And have I already tried one if not all of the positions?

Jen: What do you do in your free time?
Serenity: I read a lot; treat myself to a restaurant for dinner on occasion and watch every crime show there is on television. NCIS, Law and Order Criminal Intent, Crime 360, CSI Miami, and Forensics are my favorites. When I can get someone to accompany me, I love wine tasting.

Jen: What’s next for you?
Serenity: I have a few stories that I am submitting very soon. I am also doing an article for Women Empowerment a community paper. There are quite a few things that Serenity will be doing so be on the lookout.

Jen: Where can you be found on the web?
